Mrs. Postikit was teaching the kids how to make a birthday cake. They were all ready to bake to the glory of God.

The kids were all around the table. Each child had a bowl and a spoon. Amy said, “Mrs. Postikit, we want to make a birthday cake, but we don't know how, can you help?”

Mrs. Postikit said, “Of course I can.”

Mrs. Postikit said, “First, put the butter and sugar into the bowl and mix it up. Amy and Erica did what they were told. Soon all of the kids were ready.

Mrs. Postikit said, “Now is the hard part. Take one egg, and crack it on the side of the bowl. Then drop it into the bowl. Be careful not to get any egg shells in the bowl. Now try.”

Erica and Amy broke their eggs into the bowl, just like Mrs. Postikit told them to.

Ricky and Zach broke their eggs too. Mrs. Postikit said, "Very good."

Shawn did a good job with his egg as well. Then Maggie whammed her egg, shell and all, into her bowl. What a mess! Mrs. Postikit said, “Maggie, what are you doing?” Maggie said, “Mrs. Postikit, I gotta be me!”

Mrs. Postikit said, “I know that you gotta be you, but if you want a cake, you need to follow directions. You can help Shawn with his cake now that yours is ruined.”

Mrs. Postikit said, “Now add flour, baking powder, and milk into your bowls. Mix it well and pour it into your pan. Only fill the pan half way, or the cake will spill out when it cooks and burn. Then you will have a real mess.”

All the kids did as they were told, except Maggie. Maggie thought if half a pan made a great cake, then a whole pan would make a greater cake. She filled her cake pan to the top. Then she put it into the back of the oven before anyone saw.

Mrs. Postikit said, “Kids, go out and play while the cakes bake."

The kids then ran out.

Later, Mrs. Postikit called the kids in. When she opened the oven door, smoke came out! She took the pans out fast. Maggie's cake was burned!

She said, “Maggie, what did you do?” Maggie said, “Mrs. Postikit, I gotta be me!”

Mrs. Postikit said, “I know you gotta be you, but if you want a cake, you need to follow directions. You can help Shawn make his cake now.”

Next, the kids got ready to decorate their cakes. Mrs. Postikit gave the kids icing. It was red, white, yellow and green. She said, "Start to decorate your cakes now."

"I hear your parents in the other room. I will talk to them for awhile. Soon you can show them your cakes."

Later, Amy and Erica's mom and dad came in. They showed them their cake. Their mom said, “Mrs. Postikit, you did a great job teaching our girls to make a pretty cake. I love the little roses in the corners. The lines around the top are pretty too.”

Mrs. Postikit said, “Your girls were so nice to teach. I hope to see them again soon. Enjoy your cake!”

Next, Ricky and Zach's parents came in. They showed them their cake. Their dad said, “Mrs. Postikit, you did a great job teaching the boys to make a great cake. Wow, it looks just like a football field. It is green with white stripes. It even has a brown football right in the middle.”

Mrs. Postikit said, “Your boys were fun to teach. I hope to see them again soon. Enjoy your cake!”

Next Shawn and Maggie's parents came in. When Mrs. Postikit saw Maggie and Shawn’s cake, she was worried. It was a big mess! She thought, “what will their parents think?" This cake has been a mess from the start. I will never see their kids again."

Their dad said, “Wow, Mrs. Postikit, you really work wonders. This is the best cake the kids have ever made. You have been such a help and a blessing!”

So, even if "you gotta be you", be you, to the glory of God. Just like Mrs. Postikit and the kids did that fun day!
